Hello lovely ladies,

I was recently lucky enough to be gifted a beautiful necklace from the lovely Sam at 47 West Jewellery, so I just wanted to talk about her and the brand a little bit  If you aren’t familiar with 47 West then let me introduce it for you…

47 West is a small business run by a lovely lady called Sam who is based in Nottingham. The brand only launched a year ago so is still very new and in that up and coming exciting stage. All of the jewellery is handcrafted, personal one of a kind pieces so you know they are unique and nobody else will have the same. She handcrafts a small range of necklaces and bracelets in both silver and gold plated. A lot of her designs are personalised with horoscopes, initials and my favorite which are the dainty Morse code initial necklaces. They are really beautiful pieces and really reasonably priced.

Being a necklace lover I knew when I saw this brand I needed one of these personalised designs and very kindly Sam gifted me one. My necklace is one of the gold initial Morse code ones. It is so minimal and simple yet elegant and classic with a unique edge to it making it a little different. There are lots of different designs to choose from not just the Morse code initials but multiple disc and puzzle pieces with initials, horoscopes and other pretty pendants too. The chains are also available in different lengths so you can choose which you prefer. The necklaces are very delicate and light to wear making them a perfect everyday accessory to wear with any outfit.

The presentation and packaging is defiantly an added touch that makes this shopping experience even better, my package was delivered in a little brown box, which had a little handwritten note inside when I opened it which is a lovely little touch. The box was wrapped in pink tissue paper with a little brand sticker and then the necklace was in a little branded box with a cleaning cloth and care instructions. It was all co coordinating and packaged beautifully which all adds a little extra something and makes it feel really special.

These necklaces and bracelets would make perfect gifts for family and friends or even if you would just like a treat for yourself. You can view the full jewellery range from 47 West here.

Just on the back of this I wanted to talk a little bit about supporting the smaller independent brands out there, and not just this particular one or even jewellery brands but any. I saw a quote the other day which sums up what I mean by this perfectly ‘When you buy from a small business you are not buying a CEO his 3rd holiday home, your helping a little girl get dance lessons, a little boy get his team jersey and a mum and dad put food on the table.’

By buying from independent sellers are supporting an entrepreneur who has decided to take a risk and you are helping to build their company investing their products. You also come across so many great undiscovered little brands that are always have fresh and quirky ideas and a lot to offer, whereas with high street its always the same style in every shop kind of thing. I try my best to support local and independent brands as I think its important to help people get to where they want to be and develop their business doing something they love.

Is there any independent brands you can recommend? I would love to hear your suggestions.

Fay x
